Objectives

The “Art Healing” project was created in response to the growing needs of young people concerning mental health, emotional well-being, and the search for safe spaces for self-discovery and personal development. The project was built around the use of artistic tools – music, movement, visual arts, and body awareness – as means of exploration, expression, and emotional healing. Its main aim was to create an international environment where young people from Estonia, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Spain could learn through experience, meaningful connection with others, and creative action. Objectives of the Project 1. To develop emotional awareness and introduce tools for self-regulation We wanted participants to discover artistic methods that help express and understand emotions – especially those difficult to verbalize. Through activities such as movement improvisation, voice work, creating visual art or soundscapes, participants learned to better recognize and reflect on their emotions, and develop skills for emotional self-management. 2. To create a safe space for inner exploration and self-discovery The project aimed to offer a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere where young people could freely explore their inner worlds. We designed the activities to allow participants to immerse themselves in creative processes – both individually and in groups – so they could better understand their needs, emotions, boundaries, and potential. 3. To strengthen the participants’ sense of agency and self-worth By actively participating in the workshops and producing personal and collective art pieces, participants experienced a tangible sense of accomplishment. This helped foster confidence, trust in their creative abilities, and the belief that their contribution matters. 4. To support intercultural integration and non-verbal communication One of the key goals of the project was to build a space where young people from different countries could connect beyond language – through art, gesture, movement, sound, and emotion. This promoted openness, empathy, mutual respect, and deepened understanding across cultures. 5. To provide tools that participants can take home and use long term We intended for the project to have a lasting impact. We wanted each participant to leave with practical tools and methods they could return to whenever needed – for emotional grounding, creative expression, or personal growth. What Did We Want to Achieve Through This Project? Personal transformation of each participant We hoped each participant would go through their own, unique inner process – whether small or profound. We aimed to offer an experience that allowed them to better understand themselves, feel more centered, and walk away with useful, concrete methods for future self-exploration. Greater awareness of mental health and the importance of emotional well-being Many young people still lack access to gentle and accessible tools to support mental health. Through this project, we not only offered such tools but also emphasized that caring for one’s mental and emotional state is essential – and that creative, body-based practices can play an important role in this process. Empowering young leaders to create change in their local communities We believe that transformation starts at the individual level. By empowering participants through this experience, we aimed to inspire them to initiate similar activities and practices in their home environments – by organizing local workshops, using the tools in their everyday lives, or supporting others in their own healing journeys. Strengthening openness and tolerance within the youth community Through the intercultural exchange, we aimed to foster respect, curiosity, and cultural sensitivity. The project demonstrated that although we may come from different backgrounds, we are connected through common human experiences – emotions, struggles, dreams. These lessons remain with participants long after the project ends and shape their future attitudes and actions. Conclusion “Art Healing” was a project of creative discovery, emotional healing, and deep connection. Through its implementation, we aimed to empower young people – as individuals and as members of broader communities – to explore themselves, express freely, and support each other. We wanted them to find paths and tools they can trust and return to, whenever needed. This was achieved thanks to the deep involvement of participants, the dedication of facilitators, and the strong partnership of all organizations involved. It is our hope that the seeds planted during this experience will continue to grow long after the project’s end – in the minds, hearts, and actions of all who took part.
