Objectives

The primary goal of the project was to enhance the well-being and preparedness of youth through engaging activities in nature and practical skills development. The specific objectives of the project in the context of youth work practice included: 1.Nature Connection: Fostering a deeper connection between youth and nature through hiking activities, encouraging appreciation for the environment and promoting sustainable practices. 2. Being Ready for Emergencies: Providing young people with the skills to handle tough situations confidently and make good decisions quickly. 3. First Aid Skills: Offering first aid lessons to empower youth with life-saving skills, ensuring they could respond effectively to emergencies and contribute positively to their communities. 4. Physical and Mental Resilience: Through outdoor activities, the project aimed to make youth physically fit, mentally strong, and more independent. 5. Orientation and Navigation Skills: Enhancing the ability of youth to navigate different environments. In short, the project was all about ensuring young people had fun, stayed safe, and grew into capable individuals through outdoor adventures and practical skills, gaining lifelong experience. The activities were closely aligned with the main objectives of the Erasmus+ programme. Focusing on hiking, survival skills, and team-building activities, the project aimed to foster the personal development of the young participants, providing them with opportunities for experiential learning, skills acquisition, and self-discovery. The key connections between the project and the program's objectives included: - Encouraging Active Citizenship: The program promoted active citizenship by encouraging participants to engage in planning, implementation, and follow-up activities. Addressing issues such as environmental responsibility, first aid, and emergency response enabled participants to positively contribute to their communities. - Promoting Cross-Cultural Understanding: Through international collaboration and the involvement of young people from diverse backgrounds, the project facilitated cross-cultural understanding. Shared experiences while hiking, survival scenarios, and team challenges created a space for participants to appreciate different cultures and build lasting relationships. - Key Competencies: The project focused on developing a range of key competencies, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and environmental awareness. The goal was to show young people that they had enormous potential and could share their skills, experiences, and views with others, building self-confidence that would benefit them in the future. The project met the objectives of the Recommendations of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU of 18.12.06 on key competences for lifelong learning (2006/962/EC) and aligned with the objectives of Europe 2020. Ecology Approach: Thanks to the proposed project and activities, participants developed a closer connection to the natural world. Survival trips allowed them to immerse themselves in unfamiliar natural settings, where they learned to work with nature. Time spent in these environments facilitated beneficial self-reflection, fostering a greater appreciation for nature's resources and the balance of ecosystems, which, in turn, heightened environmental awareness and a commitment to protecting our planet. Inclusion: The project emphasized inclusion and building trust among participants. Through games and activities, it aimed to create an atmosphere where everyone could trust their team members. This was particularly important before embarking on hikes, as it ensured that everyone felt supported, valued, and included. The project also focused on involving participants with fewer opportunities, making sure that no one was left out and encouraging everyone to overcome fears and participate fully.
