Objectives

The project “Youth Starter – Don’t be scary to BE discovery” aimed to support the groups of young people in building self-confidence, emotional resilience, and the practical competences necessary for their wellbeing and active participation in society. The idea came directly from the needs expressed during preparatory meetings with youth in Piekary Śląskie, who indicated difficulties with self-esteem, stress, time management and communication, especially after the COVID years and ongoing war-related pressures felt by many Ukrainian young people living in Poland. Therefore, the project had very concrete and clearly defined objectives: To strengthen self-confidence and self-awareness of at least 30 participants through daily reflection sessions, small-group discussions and structured non-formal learning activities. To improve the ability to manage time, school duties and personal responsibilities, through dedicated workshops on planning, work–life balance and prioritising tasks. To provide psychological tools for emotional wellbeing, including one full-day workshop led by a professional psychologist on stress-management, emotional regulation and recognising personal needs. To support inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities - minimum 15 participants - including: young Ukrainian migrants living in Poland, youth from war-affected regions of Ukraine, young people with low self-esteem and limited social support. To enhance intercultural competences by bringing together youth from four countries (PL, UA, GE, SI), enabling them to work in mixed groups, learn about each other’s cultures, and practice tolerance and cooperation. To promote environmental responsibility through activities aligned with the European Green Deal and 5R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Refuse, Recycle). To prepare each national group to implement a local youth initiative after the exchange - focused on mental health, wellbeing, or youth activation - ensuring sustainability and real community impact. To introduce young people to European values and frameworks, including discussion of: EU Youth Goals (especially Goal 5 “Mental Health & Wellbeing”), and Directive (EU) 2019/1158 on Work–Life Balance, helping participants understand how wellbeing is supported at European policy level.
