We implemented the youth exchange project titled "Youth Against Nukes" because it served as a direct response to the needs of the youth and our organizations, while also addressing the challenges of the current geopolitical reality. A turning point was the barbaric invasion of Russia into Ukraine, which not only threatened peace in Europe but also brutally shattered the entire security architecture that had been patiently built on our continent over many decades. Through this project, we aimed to raise awareness and highlight the threats posed by the presence and potential use of nuclear weapons, which has become a matter of high priority in light of recent global events. Our primary objectives were: - Youth activation towards the reduction of nuclear arsenals in Europe. - Fostering integration and strengthening cooperation among young people from different countries. - Emphasizing the role of a solidary Europe in building lasting security. We also addressed the highly significant topic of nuclear energy as a source of clean power. We analyzed the related opportunities and risks in the modern world, contrasting the divergent strategies of European nations—including the planned construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland (set for completion in 2033) compared to the phase-out of nuclear power in Germany, where the final three units were shut down in 2023. We expanded our knowledge in this area by holding substantive discussions on the future of the energy mix. Through our activities, we promoted a vision of a safe Europe rooted in solidarity and the protection of human rights. The project became a manifesto of youth participation; from start to finish, it was created and executed by young people. This allowed us and our target audience to feel a strong sense of belonging to the European Community and NATO, emphasize EU values, and actively voice our opinions on the future and development of our continent. We concluded the implementation of the project with a deep conviction that a Europe free of nuclear weapons is a vital step toward global disarmament and lasting peace worldwide.
