Objectives

Our project "Hejt OFF" was created in response to the growing problem of hate speech and intolerance, especially among young people. Its main goal was to raise awareness about hate speech, help identify it, and develop effective ways to deal with it. We noticed that this issue was particularly visible in schools, social media, and public spaces, often leading to serious consequences such as social exclusion, depression, or even suicide attempts. The key objectives of the project included educating participants on effective communication, building assertiveness, and developing the ability to express opinions in a respectful way. We also aimed to promote tolerance and openness to cultural and social diversity. A significant element of the activities was the engagement of local communities and the creation of educational tools that could be used after the project's completion. As part of these activities, we created, among other things, the 'Hejt OFF' video promoting our work, a 12-month calendar, online promotional activities, and the 'Hejt OFF' happening in Zakopane. These materials were intended to further spread knowledge and awareness among youth and adults. Another significant aspect of the project was the exchange of experiences between participants from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Lithuania. This allowed young people to explore different perspectives and learn how hate speech is addressed in different countries. International cooperation helped participants understand how cultural and social contexts influence the perception of and responses to hate speech. The project aligned with the goals of the Erasmus+ program by supporting the development of young people's social and civic skills while promoting European values such as respect, equality, and inclusion. Through educational and social initiatives, we aimed to create an informed society that actively opposes hate speech and fosters mutual respect.
