Objectives

The core motivation stemmed from the identified need to engage young people more effectively in educational, developmental, and participatory activities. Traditional methods, such as lectures or adult-led presentations, often fail to capture the attention and imagination of young people, limiting their involvement and impact. To address this, the project sought to introduce and utilize dramatic methods, particularly applied drama, as a powerful tool for youth engagement. Applied drama offers a dynamic and engaging approach that allows young people to actively explore issues relevant to their communities, fostering deeper learning and the development of solutions for positive social change. With this project, we wanted to empower youth workers, youth leaders, educators, and youth peers with new working methods, particularly using applied drama, to effectively engage young people in educational and development activities. We recognized the need to engage young people with innovative and interesting methods, presenting dynamic messages that resonate more powerfully than traditional approaches. The aim of the project was to empower youth workers with methodological practical skills and approaches, particularly using applied drama in their professional life while working with youth to promote their effective engagement in the community. The objectives of this project were: • To address the needs of partner organisations by empowering their youth workers with new methodological approaches to bring freshness and innovation to their daily work. • To share techniques of applied drama with youth workers and demonstrate how to use them in youth work for effective engagement and participation. • To promote the development of five out of eight Lisbon Key Competences while working with youth. • To replenish the non-formal education toolbox with new sets of tools related to applied drama. • To generate follow-up activities based on the principle of multiplication, fostering quality improvements in youth work and enhancing the soft skills of young people for participation and social inclusion.
