Objectives

In today's society, many people, both adults and youth, struggle to build safe and accepting relationships. The use of smartphones and social media by teenagers is often associated with worsening mental health, and the pandemic has further increased feelings of isolation. Social support is crucial for maintaining mental health, and lack of support can lead to negative consequences. The "Listeners' Reunion" project was created in response to these issues. Participants of the "Listeners' Gathering" project (training course for youth workers, October 2023), who are the direct target group of the “Listeners Reunion” project, have experienced a lack of inclusive environments in their local communities. The training they underwent was highly rated in terms of quality and the community it created. Participants stay in touch, organizing international meetings. The project aims to raise awareness of the power of supportive environments, enable authentic expression and creativity, and develop interpersonal skills. The "Listeners' Reunion" project aims to create a safe space for the self-development of participants by building awareness of the power of supportive environments and fostering creativity, authenticity, and identity coherence, supporting the mental health of youth and youth workers. By deepening competencies in active listening, empathy, and facilitation skills, the project supports participants in building confidence and effectively communicating with youth. Additionally, by expanding knowledge about building supportive environments for youth, the project aims to motivate participants to create safe developmental spaces in their local communities. Therefore, the training will focus on both the development of facilitation competencies and skills in building supportive communities. Participants will delve into the topic of deep listening (to oneself, others, and nature) and also explore their authenticity, integrity, and creativity.
