The project Young Star. Wise Mentor! A Development Programme had the main goal of preparing 35 people working with young people from 7 countries: Poland, Slovenia, Hungary, Cyprus, Ukraine, Turkey, and Albania for more conscious, effective, and supportive work with young talents, particularly in the fields of creativity, non-formal education, and the development of soft skills. The project was a response to the needs observed during the 5 years of activity of the We are for U Foundation and its partner organizations, working with artistically talented young people, often living far from professional support centers. The project provided participants with the knowledge, tools, and inspiration necessary to effectively support youth development, especially those with fewer opportunities. We also wanted to strengthen the position of mentors, trainers, and youth leaders through the development of their competences in an international and intercultural environment. The side goals of the project included: 1.Development of the competences of people working with youth in the field of supporting young talents, managing their potential, and conducting mentoring activities. 2.Familiarizing participants with non-formal education methods and forms of artistic activities conducive to engagement and motivation of young people. 3.Increasing participants’ skills in the field of digitalization, including media education, combating disinformation, and using digital tools in youth work. 4.Promoting social inclusion and diversity through the participation of young people with fewer opportunities (23 out of 35 participants), including those facing difficult social, economic, or geographical situations. 5.Exchanging good practices between partner organizations, both experienced and less experienced (so-called newcomer organizations), which enabled mutual learning and the joint development of innovative approaches. 6.Strengthening the resilience and motivation of youth leaders, who often work in demanding conditions and with groups at risk of exclusion. The project Young Star. Wise Mentor! was carried out in line with the assumptions, goals, and current priorities of the Erasmus+ programme, such as: inclusion and diversity, digital transformation, and participation in democratic life. This is confirmed by the following aspects of the project: The project focused on promoting diversity and inclusion by providing educational and developmental support for young people with varying levels of talent and from different social backgrounds. 1.It supported building a European identity and sharing European values, also with countries outside the EU. 2.It provided knowledge of tools, techniques, and practices that after the project will allow better use of the potential of people working with youth, based on non-formal education. 3.It promoted non-formal educational mobility and active participation among young people. 4.It ensured the participation of “newcomer organizations/less experienced organizations” (as many as 3 partners fell into this category). 5.It had a strong international dimension, among others through cooperation with third countries not associated with the Programme in the field of mobility, cooperation, and substantive dialogue. 6.It aimed to ensure gender equality through the participation of an equal number of women and men. 7.It provided validation of acquired competences (100% of participants received Youthpass certificates). 8.It supported activities for digital transformation through the use of online communication tools, Google tools, MS Office software, and simple photo and video editing programmes within the project.
