Objectives

“Rethink remigration - how to support youth on their way home” was a project that aimed at enhancing the quality of European youth work by providing partner NGOs, participating youth workers, and other experts with innovative approaches, methods, and tools that can be used for successfully supporting young people with remigration background across Europe. All the participants and partners involved in this project were actors who work with youth on a regular basis and who face similar challenges in their activities. One of those challenges is how to make the educational content they implement to be more adjusted and tailored to the needs of young people, especially those who are returning migrants. Remigration to the European Union is an issue that gained significance in recent years - in consequence, organizations and experts working with youth who have beneficiaries with remigration background need more educational solutions that are adjusted to the challenges and problems those young people are facing. Our project, Rethink Remigration, provided the project partners and participants with space to gain a deeper understanding of the concept of remigration and its consequences for young people, as well as explore new solutions and educational approaches that can bring sustainable and long-lasting benefits to their work with this specific target group. As a result of the project, together with the project partners were able to develop tangible intellectual output in the form of a tool kit with step by step instructions of exercises that can be used while working with youth with remigration background. This tool kit was spread around a broad network of partners (NGOs, public bodies and other institutions working with youth), which helped us ensure a lasting project impact that extends beyond our partners and participants who took direct part in the project activities. Through our actions and activities, we were able to achieve the following objectives to the full extent: Exploring new ways for supporting youth with remigration background, with a focus on helping those young people feel more included in the society without losing their unique (cultural) identities Raising partners’ and participants’ professional capacities as for working with youth at risk of exclusion due to (re)migration background, especially as for how to design and implement educational tools that are adjusted to the specific needs of those young people Designing and disseminating educational resources - a tool kit for youth workers and other experts containing methods and tools based on artistic means of expression that can be used while working with youth with remigration background Creating a network of like-minded organizations and youth workers interested in further European-scale collaboration on projects aiming at enhancing social inclusion and raising the quality of European youth work
