Objectives

In an era of widespread digitalization, young people are increasingly exposed to the negative influences of social media. Numerous studies confirm that excessive use of these platforms can lead to addiction, decreased self-esteem, and various health issues. There is therefore a strong need for youth workers to possess the appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage these risks and promote healthy social media use. This project addressed these needs through an interactive and practical training course that equipped participants to work effectively with youth in the field of media education. The training, titled "News or Fake News – Creative Online Tools for Youth Work", focused on developing skills in identifying misinformation (fake news), preventing social media addiction, and using social media as an educational tool. Participants also learned how to use creative online tools to engage with young people. The aim of the project was to increase digital awareness and competence among youth workers, contributing to the promotion of healthy and responsible social media use and improving the overall quality of life for both young people and youth workers. The training emphasized practical skills and tools that participants could immediately apply in their daily work with youth. As a result, youth workers became better equipped to deal with the challenges posed by social media and gained greater capacity to support young people in developing positive habits for internet and social media use.
