Społeczna Grupa Medialna Sp. z o.o. is a social enterprise based in Zawiercie, Poland, conducting educational and youth activation activities since 2020. The organisation combines experience in social media and digital communication with social work, allowing it to reach young audiences in their language. The main objective of the “Opolskie Laboratorium Polityki Młodzieżowej” (Opolskie Youth Policy Laboratory) project was to gather the voices of young residents of the Opolskie Voivodeship from each of the region’s twelve districts and transform that voice into a strategic document addressed to local governments. The project was designed as a response to the thirty-year-long emigration of young people from Opolszczyzna – a region that has lost over 127,000 inhabitants since 2002. Specific objectives included: 1. Diagnosing the needs and problems of young people through social consultations in all twelve districts of the Opolskie Voivodeship, using a standardised research methodology based on the educational game “City of the Future” and Mentimeter surveys. 2. Increasing youth participation in decision-making processes through direct dialogue with local decision-makers – local government officials, councillors, representatives of public offices, and parliamentarians. 3. Developing a 30-page strategic document “Opolskie Laboratorium Polityki Młodzieżowej – the voice of the young generation of the Opolskie Voivodeship” containing six postulates with concrete recommendations for local governments. 4. Strengthening the civic competences of twelve district leaders, who over eighteen months learned to organise events, conduct consultations, and articulate needs in language comprehensible to decision-makers. 5. Disseminating the developed results among local governments of the Opolskie Voivodeship and secondary schools in the region.
