Before we applied and started the project, we learned that the data made available by the National Health Fund shows that depression among children and adolescents is becoming more serious in Poland - for example, in 2019, almost 17.3 thousand underage patients received specialized treatment, and in 2021, after the COVID-19 pandemic, it rose to 25.3 thousand. As a foundation that conducts educational and preventive activities in the field of mental health, we noticed the growing scale of the problem, also among those in the closest environment: friends, families or project partners. Increasingly, emotional difficulties are also affecting children. We know that still topics related to depression and mental disorders are downplayed, especially in local and rural communities. There is taboo, stereotyping and stigmatization of people struggling with the disease. Through the project, we wanted to change this by involving young people in co-creating solutions and opening the way for them to dialogue with decision-makers. In response to the mental health crisis - the shortage of specialists, long appointments in public health care, and the high cost of private treatment - we decided to implement a project that would combine education, activation of young people, and contact with those who influence the mental health system in Poland. The goals of the project are: 1.To increase knowledge of depression - its causes, symptoms, treatment and prevention methods. 2.To deepen awareness of mental health prevention. 3.To gain skills to cope with crisis situations. 4.To get acquainted with institutions and places offering help to people in crisis. 5.To learn about systemic mental health solutions. 6.Learning to conduct debates and panel discussions. 7. Preparing to create information campaigns about depression in the local environment. 8. Developing digital skills - designing social media campaigns (Facebook, Instagram). Project activities included: - Online awareness campaigns: - each of the 30 participants implemented a campaign (individual or group) in their community using Facebook and Instagram. The goal was to increase knowledge about depression and mental health. - 2 stationary mobility in Warsaw: 1-Mobility.
