Objectives

In implementing the "Design a Space" project, we aimed primarily to strengthen the role of youth in city life and create a real space for dialogue between young people and decision-makers. Our primary goal was to connect and network existing youth spaces in Lublin and increase youth engagement in social, civic, and volunteer activities. We wanted young people to be not merely recipients of activities, but active participants and co-creators of change – both in their local communities and in the context of the city's youth policy. Therefore, a key element of the project was to examine the actual needs of youth in various districts of Lublin and translate these needs into concrete dialogue with local government representatives. Our other goals were: - creating a sustainable network of cooperation between youth spaces, - exchanging experiences and good practices at the national level through study visits and nationwide activities, - developing participants' social and civic competences, - promoting volunteering and youth activism as an important element of local community development, - strengthening cooperation between non-governmental organizations and public institutions. - developing sustainable solutions to support youth policy at the local level. We also wanted to demonstrate that youth spaces can serve as a real "bridge" between youth and the city – a place where young people not only spend time but also participate in decision-making, initiate activities, and influence their surroundings. From the outset, the project was aligned with the priorities of the Erasmus+ program and the objectives of the EU Youth Dialogue, particularly in the areas of youth participation, social inclusion, and strengthening the role of young people in democratic processes. At the same time, we considered the program's horizontal priorities, such as inclusion and diversity, active participation, and building civic awareness.
