Objectives

The ExploreTogether project was developed in response to a growing concern: that many young people across Europe—especially those facing economic hardship, family difficulties, or living in rural or remote areas—are excluded from opportunities that should be open to all. While the DiscoverEU initiative is designed to give young people the chance to travel, learn, and connect with different cultures, we observed a gap in who actually gets to benefit from it. Too often, those with fewer opportunities are left behind. Through this project, we aimed to bridge that gap and create more equal access to life-changing experiences that support personal growth, intercultural understanding, and European identity. We had five key objectives: 1- Equal Access and Inclusion We wanted to make DiscoverEU more accessible for young people who are usually underrepresented—those who might not travel due to financial problems, social obstacles, or lack of guidance. Our goal was to remove practical and emotional barriers that prevent them from participating. 2- Capacity Building and Empowerment We designed training and preparation sessions to equip participants with the tools, confidence, and knowledge to plan and take part in group journeys across Europe. We empowered them to take ownership of the experience, from choosing routes to managing budgets and solving problems during travel. 3- Promoting Intercultural Learning We aimed to foster openness, tolerance, and intercultural competence by encouraging young people to explore and reflect on the diverse cultures they would encounter during their travels. This learning was key to building empathy and a deeper understanding of what it means to be European. 4- Raising Awareness of Inclusion in Youth Programs We wanted to show, through real-life examples and storytelling, that inclusive youth mobility programs are possible and impactful. By highlighting our participants' journeys and achievements, we hoped to inspire other organizations and institutions to support young people with fewer opportunities. 5- Personal Development and Active Citizenship Finally, our objective was to support participants in their personal development—helping them build independence, teamwork, adaptability, and leadership skills—and to inspire them to become more active in their communities and more connected to Europe. ExploreTogether was not only about travel—it was about creating a more just and inclusive Erasmus+ environment where no young person is left behind, and every young voice has the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow.
