Our objectives were: - establish closer cooperation with Danish and Norwegian centers and learn and exchange more about the basics of Grundtvigian pedagogy, particularly confronted with challenges of XXI century: environmental crisis, polarization of society and growing threat of the war. The aim was to provide the platform for discussion and collaboration to develop basic concepts and tools. - develop curriculum and realize the pilot course for Polish and Ukrainian teachers and leaders. The course itself was an example of learning-by-doing, using all special characteristics of fhs teaching: storytelling, singing, group-work and many others. It presented also the teaching methods, which lead towards development of civic competences, democracy and collaboration skills. - summarize gathered experience in the publication edited at the end of the project. The manual provided extra material concerning the past and present experiences of fhs, as well as concrete examples of activities and stories to be used. It dealt also with challenges of future, particularly explaining the concept of Anthropocene and helping the readers to find practical solutions to work towards the change of technocratic paradigm into sustainable, ecological one.
We wanted to increase knowledge and skills of Polish and Ukrainians teachers and leaders in folk high school movement in the field of Grundtvigian pedagogy. The identified need of our target group in Poland was a lack of good and comprehensive knowledge and competences, how to teach in "Grundtvigian style", because many of the Polish fhs were established within the last 2-4 years and their staff never had opportunity to fully understand the uniqueness and the potential of this form of education. We wanted to benefit from the experience of the experts of this field from Denmark and Norway. Their contribution ensured the high quality and comprehensiveness of all our educational activities. This project also aimed to establish stable partnership between "practitioner"-Ecological Folk High School, academic -University of South-Eastern Norway and think-tank - Grundtvigsk Forum from Denmark, to develop new concepts and approaches in fhs teaching methods, which respond to modern challenges known as Anthropocene (environmental crisis, society polarization and a widespread unfamiliarity with democratic principles). The addressed need was building mature democracy and civil society, in which fhs educational methods play a significant role.
