The main goal of the project was to prepare young people (aged 15–18) for conscious and responsible participation in the digital world. The project aimed to increase media literacy, critical information analysis skills, and the ability to recognize fake news, as well as develop ethical attitudes online. The project aimed to promote responsible use of technology, counter cyberbullying, foster a culture of dialogue and empathy online, and encourage young people to create valuable, pro-social digital content. It also aimed to increase participants' environmental awareness—showing that everyday online activities have an impact on the environment. A significant outcome was the creation of an international network of "digital ambassadors" who, after the project's completion, would promote ethical and sustainable media use. The project aligned with Erasmus+ priorities: supporting digital transformation, developing key competences, protecting the climate, and strengthening cooperation between schools. Given today's world, we wanted to encourage participants to create and share valuable online content to foster positive digital interactions and combat disinformation.
The project was developed in response to the urgent need to strengthen youth's media and digital literacy in the face of growing online threats. Numerous cases of disinformation, cyberbullying, technology addiction, and a lack of awareness regarding data protection and ethical media use were identified in partner schools. A survey of 783 students revealed that 83% of them lack the ability to recognize digital threats, and last year, 47 incidents of unwanted online incidents were reported. The project aimed to counteract these phenomena by teaching critical thinking, recognizing manipulation, developing responsible digital citizenship, and fostering environmental awareness in a digital context. Additionally, it addressed the needs of schools less experienced in the Erasmus+ program, enabling them to participate in international cooperation and the exchange of good educational practices, promoting equal opportunities and social inclusion for students from diverse backgrounds. The project also focused on digital safety, a crucial issue these days, as the digital world surrounds us in almost every aspect.
