Three main objectives have been defined for this project: 1) to promote the European Integration of adult learners with low European Culture and low levels of schooling; 2) to improve the pedagogical skills of teachers working with adult learners so that they can design appropriate learning situations and 3) to increase the English language communication skills of adult learners, teachers and school staff who work directly with the target audience.
The Agrupamento de Escolas de Martim de Freitas has recently started its Adult Education practice, with a population that has low qualifications and is mostly immigrant. It has no adult education specialists on its teaching staff. Therefore, this project seeks to overcome the challenges created both for learners who lack an European culture that promotes their inclusion and, at the same time, to equip teachers and other staff with the right tools for teaching adults.
