In this project we focused on identifying, addressing and sharing tools to prevent and combat Burnout in Youth Work with the same participants in 2 parts. Starting from burnout: A lack of balance and sustainable work or life practices can lead to diminished self-awareness and emotional resilience. The impact extends beyond the individual, affecting society on a larger scale, as chronic exhaustion and disengagement contribute to decreased productivity, increased mental health struggles, and a higher risk of workplace dissatisfaction or even withdrawal. Burnout can leave individuals vulnerable to stress-related illnesses, disengagement from meaningful pursuits, and feelings of disillusionment, further deepening systemic issues like workplace inequity and social detachment. Establishing supportive environments, promoting well-being, and encouraging sustainable work-life integration are crucial for mitigating the negative effects of burnout, fostering resilience, and empowering individuals to thrive. We,the youth workers who have direct contact with young people, understand the importance of dealing with their worries, need for support, adult positive role models, mentoring and guidance. We recognize the lack of tools to address burnout and well-being as these are concepts we need to explore ourselves first. Creating space for addressing and comparing burnout in youth work allows people to build resilience and explore growth by holding space for their own true self and feelings in order to be useful to the community and the young people they work with. Youth workers often focus&invest their energy into other people, sometimes forgetting the importance of self-care. A potential lack of self-awareness and understanding the signs of burnout mean they cannot meaningfully provide adequate support to young people and they struggle in finding purpose and meaning in their work. If youth workers were able to express their struggle with burnout and the signs involved ,they,as role models, would encourage youth and other youth workers to take a pause and reconnect with themselves in order to fully engage with the world around them. Needs identified (across all participating organizations): -Address burnout in youth work -Normalize intentional emotional check-in with self and each other -Become more comfortable with sharing feelings -Address the pressures of comparing our life path, milestones and things we are not proud of to others -Breach the gap of emotional distance between co-workers,be honest in our struggles as youth workers -Learn how to use Nonviolent Communication with other youth workers&young people -Explore embodiment methods to combat burnout -Normalize the idea that being a good youth worker also means that we take care of our needs first -How to have healthy communication -How to build community, safe&experimental space where youth workers&young people can express their struggles with burnout and share good practices Project Objectives: 1.Increase self-awareness and self-understanding (needs, emotions, mindfulness, embodied practices,values,self-compassion) 2. Identify professional burnout in youth work & Gain valuable knowledge on prevention and recognizing signs leading to burnout 3. Provide support to youth workers at risk of burnout 4. Gain concrete tools and mitigation methods 5. Keep experienced youth workers in the market
