With the implementation of the activities “Unlocking Creativity” (a Training Course for youth workers) and “THROUGH THE LENS” (a Youth Exchange), under our Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation, we wanted to take a concrete step in operationalising our long-term strategy for the youth sector. Simply put, we aimed to test, consolidate, and further develop our vision: to empower young people and youth workers to become agents of change, using creative and participatory methodologies aligned with European values of democracy, inclusion, and human rights. On the one hand, with “Unlocking Creativity”, we sought to strengthen the quality of youth work within partner organisations. The core objective was to equip youth workers, facilitators, youth leaders, and educators with a set of practical tools, including non-formal education methodologies, creative approaches, arts and storytelling, and the critical use of digital media, enabling them to design and facilitate activities that are more inclusive, participatory, and relevant for young people, especially those with fewer opportunities. At the same time, we aimed to strengthen international cooperation, build a community of practice among participants, and align the organisations involved with the quality standards set by the Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation. On the other hand, through “THROUGH THE LENS”, we aimed to empower young people to look critically at themselves, their communities, and Europe “through the lens” of photography, video, and visual storytelling. The goal was to create a safe intercultural space where young people from different backgrounds could explore stereotypes, discrimination, and media representations, while developing skills in communication, critical thinking, teamwork, digital literacy, and intercultural competence. Through this process, we sought to strengthen a sense of European belonging, awareness of democratic values and human rights, and motivation for more active civic participation, both locally and at European level. In an integrated way, the project objectives under this accreditation were to: - Promote active participation and community development, involving young people in processes of diagnosis, reflection, and co-creation of responses to real challenges in their communities. - Improve the quality and impact of youth work, by providing structured, high-quality training to youth workers and creating transferable resources and methodologies for partner organisations. - Support participants’ personal and professional development, strengthening essential transversal competences (creativity, communication, teamwork, digital skills, resilience, intercultural awareness, and active citizenship). - Contribute to the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy (Engage, Connect, Empower), by creating non-formal learning opportunities that actively engage young people, connect them across borders, and empower them, as well as youth workers, to act in an informed, critical, and supportive way within their communities. By implementing “Unlocking Creativity” and “THROUGH THE LENS” within the framework of the Erasmus+ Youth Accreditation, we sought to turn our strategy into concrete practice: testing models, consolidating partnerships, and generating real change in the lives of the young people and organisations involved.
