Objectives

The overall aim of the project was to strengthen the resilience of young people and communities in the face of climate change, social instability, and ecological degradation. By combining two complementary Youth Exchanges – “Build Up Your Life – Resilience Design” and “Build Up Food Security” – we sought to provide practical skills, intercultural dialogue, and opportunities for active participation in sustainable living and community resilience. The project objectives were: Train consortium staff and young people to become more resilient when facing the challenges of climate change, equipping them with knowledge in permaculture, sustainable design, food sovereignty, and ecological restoration. Develop NGO infrastructures as living examples of sustainability that can be used as educational spaces and multipliers, inspiring participants and their communities with hands-on, practical demonstrations of sustainable practices (water, energy, food nexus). Create and share multimedia content and educational resources on sustainability, ensuring that the knowledge and competences gained by participants and staff reach wider audiences beyond the immediate project. Strengthen the international dimension of our consortium, consolidating partnerships built in recent years while welcoming new NGOs, thereby increasing our capacity to respond collectively to climate challenges. Involve young people with fewer opportunities in accessible, free educational activities, ensuring that those facing economic, social, cultural, or geographical barriers can benefit from skills and perspectives usually reserved for privileged groups. Foster active citizenship and EU values by encouraging young people to become engaged community members, defending cultural diversity and contributing to the fight against climate change as a shared European responsibility. Use Erasmus+ and non-formal education as effective tools for skills development, experiential learning, and empowerment of both young people and consortium staff. Promote intercultural dialogue and exchange, using the diversity of international partners and participants as a strength for co-creating solutions and broadening perspectives on sustainability and resilience. Develop practical educational tools and guidelines to promote simple, actionable behaviors that reduce ecological footprint and inspire sustainable lifestyles in everyday life. Through these objectives, the project aimed not only at building competences among participants but also at creating a multiplier effect, where knowledge and tools are taken back to local communities, strengthening resilience at a broader scale.
