Objectives

By implementing this project, CiRAC intended, above all, to provide a concrete and structured response to the social challenges that affect young people in contexts of exclusion and vulnerability. In a society where inequalities continue to generate intergenerational cycles of exclusion, it became imperative to intervene not only with young people, but also with the youth workers who work with them on a daily basis. This project was conceived as an instrument of empowerment, innovation, and creation of social impact. It was based on the conviction that artistic and non-formal methods play an essential role in the personal, social, and professional development of young people, especially those in situations with fewer opportunities. Our intention was to break away from patterns of exclusion through the valorisation of non-formal education, promoting practices that, while enhancing skills, also strengthen social cohesion and active citizenship. We wanted to empower youth workers with new methodologies and tools, providing them with competences that they could apply in their local contexts, adapted to the realities of the young people with whom they work. We identified that many youth workers face difficulties in updating practices or accessing new approaches, which leads to less effective action and, often, interventions that are not well adjusted to the current challenges of youth. We centred the project on the quality of the working methods applied in actions with young people. We wanted to give value, institutionally and among the professionals involved, to the benefits of creativity, artistic expression, and the non-formal approach as engines of development and social transformation. The project arose from a deep desire to generate structured social change and to contribute to a more just, inclusive, and creative society. By investing in youth workers, we are also investing in the sustainability of the sector and in the future of the young people with whom we work daily.
