Objectives

The Partnership Building Activity “Creating Sustainable Projects for Change” was implemented within the framework of CMF’s Erasmus+ Accreditation in the field of Youth under the Objective 1: to improve the quality of youth work through the professional development of youth workers and the creation of sustainable European partnerships. Taking place in Fundão, Portugal, from 19 to 25 May 2025 (+2 travel days), the activity gathered 25 youth workers (24 participants + 1 Trainer) from 7 European countries: Portugal, Spain, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, Italy, and Türkiye. Through cooperation and observation on previous Erasmus+ projects between Fundão Municipality and our partners, searches on Youth Workers forums, internal formation and internal skills assessments across staff and volunteers from partner organisations, it became evident that many youth workers lacked the creative, methodological, technical and strategic skills required to design and manage high-quality Erasmus+ projects in line with the Programme’s Quality Standards. We found that our Italian partner (Fattoria Pugliese Diffusa) lacked the specific tools to design high-quality E+ projects aligned with the Erasmus+ Youth Quality Standards. Another example would be our Turkish partner (Seferihisar District Directorate of National Education), which sent 3 youth workers who used old methods of education and required modern non-formal education to reach and engage local youth in their daily work. Our mapping found that common issues included a lack of digital project planning tools, outdated Youth Work practices, weak problem/needs diagnosis, limited experience in international partnership management, weak European networks, and a lack of effective dissemination strategies in the digital era. These conditions reduce their ability to co-create impactful projects that address shared youth challenges in Europe. This PBA was created to address this need by empowering youth workers with skills, knowledge and the network that will strengthen the overall quality of youth work and increase the impact of Erasmus+ projects around 7 European countries. The project was also designed to meet the general and specific objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme by promoting non-formal learning mobility for youth workers and improving the recognition, quality, inclusion, and innovation of youth work in Europe. We aimed to promote all four horizontal priorities of the programme: - Inclusion and Diversity: 10 participants came from backgrounds with fewer opportunities, ensuring equal access and a diverse group, promoting knowledge flows dynamically. - Green Transition: sustainable practices were incorporated throughout the project (use of digital tools and repository of project outcomes, local and vegetarian catering, waste reduction, and we included green methods in the creation of all project drafts). - Digital Transformation: digital tools (Google Drive, Google Meet, Canva, Kahoot, Google Forms, and collaborative platforms) were used for preparation, evaluation, non-formal activities, project creation, monitoring, and follow-up, while training sessions addressed digital dissemination of project results. - Participation in Democratic Life: by fostering the creation of international partnerships and other Erasmus+ projects for youth, we promoted the active engagement of Youth and youth workers in Erasmus+ activities, encouraging civic participation, a shared sense of European identity and the EU Values. We had in our objectives the forwarding of the European Youth Goals (Goals 4, 7, and 10) and the Sustainable Development Goals (4 and 17) by enhancing quality learning, employability, sustainability, and partnerships for change. Therefore, we designed a list of specific objectives that align with Objective 1 of the Accreditation, which we used as a basis for creating the activities. In this way, we ensure a real impact on the quality of Youth Work of our participants and consequently of our partner organisations. Specific Objectives: - Equip 25 youth workers with the tools to design evidence-based Erasmus+ projects, including needs analysis, target-group definition, and activity planning using non-formal education. - Increase understanding of Erasmus+ Quality Standards, providing practical methodologies such as SWOT analysis, SMART objectives, and key performance indicators. - Develop management competencies in partnership building, monitoring and evaluation, risk assessment, and budgeting. - Create opportunities for networking and collaboration among 8+ youth organisations, fostering future cooperation and sharing of best practices. - Promote sustainability and long-term impact, introducing effective dissemination and visibility strategies to extend the life of project results. - Create 5 new Erasmus+ Youth project proposals, to be further developed and submitted in the upcoming calls.
