Objectives

Our project is based on the objectives outlined as part of the Erasmus+ accreditation, aligning with the vision and mission of Teatro Metaphora, as well as the goals of the Erasmus+ Programme. Every year, we promote activities, using non-formal education methods, that develop key competences, not only in young people who are our main target group, but also in those who work in the field of education, either with the youth population or with the community in general. The expected result is always community well-being, the promotion of social cohesion and respect for fundamental rights. In this third year of accreditation, we have implemented a youth exchange and a mobility for youth workers (training course), both involving not only EU countries but also third countries associated and not associated with the programme. Taking into account the various priorities at the European level and the learning needs of young people and problems at local level, the exchange focused mainly on raising awareness of the European Youth Goals, acting as a contribution to enabling young people to participate more actively in community life at all levels while developing their skills. These objectives, which emerged from the EU Youth Dialogue activities, represent the voice of young people, what they want for the future and which areas present challenges and obstacles they want to overcome. During the exchange, young people focused mainly on: #1 “Connecting young people to the EU”; #3 “Inclusive societies”; #5 Mental health and well-being; #10 Sustainable Green Europe and #11 Youth Organisations and European Programmes. Specific objectives: - Encouraging the involvement of young people in everyday democratic life; - Promote intercultural dialogue, learning and a sense of belonging to Europe; Develop skills, knowledge and attitudes, such as a greater sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, self-esteem and self-confidence, language, ecological and intercultural skills and others; - Raise awareness of the European Youth Goals and, consequently, of European policies in the youth field; - Increase participation of young people with fewer opportunities in EU non-formal learning programmes. The training course worked specifically on the issue of media literacy, which is also one of the priority areas and well present in the European Youth Goals - “Information and Constructive Dialogue”. The emergence of social networks and their by-products have increased the amount of information available on the Internet, including turning ordinary people into content producers. Technological advances and social media have allowed various groups to express their voice and engage in new ways, however, it also brought some risks related to privacy, security or the search for reliable content. People often lack the skills to distinguish what is real or not. Online media platforms and social media in particular shape our perceptions of reality and how we see the world. Sometimes this happens without us noticing it. Media literacy education, which involves the development of critical skills, is key in an unpredictable and rapidly changing society, where young people, and beyond, can be easily affected by many negative factors, but also positively influenced by new opportunities. It is necessary to teach and learn – in formal and non-formal environments – how the media produce their messages on behalf of different power holders and how the public internalizes those messages. This is the only way to achieve genuine participation in democratic life. The main objective of this training was to develop the capacity of youth workers/educators to promote critical and responsible media consumption behaviors in their organizations. Specific objectives: - To develop analytical and critical thinking skills for screening diverse media content; - To stimulate deeper reflection on the role of media in people's lives; - To develop skills for promoting responsible and truthful news; - To distinguish fact-based articles from opinion-based ones; - To explore the concept of freedom of expression and hate speech; - To trigger interest and curiosity in the narratives used by different media producers; - To better understand the media bias and power in influencing society; - To motivate participants to engage more responsibly with the messages promoted by the media;
