Environmental problems caused by human activities have become serious global concerns. Issues such as global warming, waste generation, air pollution, and the greenhouse effect not only endanger the planet but also directly impact human health. Among these, water pollution stands out as one of the most pressing issues. One of the major concerns about water pollution is its direct effect on human health. Many industries discharge pollutants into water sources, contaminating the water that people use for drinking, agriculture, and daily life. However, it's not only large industries that are responsible—individual actions also play a significant role in polluting water. A study conducted in France, Switzerland, and Portugal revealed that human behavior is a key contributor to water contamination. In response to these alarming trends, the main aim of our project was to raise awareness among young people about the causes and consequences of water pollution. We wanted to foster a sense of responsibility regarding their daily actions that affect water resources and to promote environmentally friendly habits. The objectives of our project were to: Educate young people through informal learning about the health risks associated with polluted water. Highlight how everyday behaviors contribute to water contamination. Promote an environmental mindset that prioritizes the protection of water sources. Motivate youth to take part in environmental events and advocacy efforts. Raise awareness about the environmental cost of chemical product usage, especially cosmetics, and promote eco-conscious habits. Foster inclusivity by involving participants of various genders and ethnic backgrounds. Develop participants’ competencies in language, leadership, and problem-solving. Provide comprehensive information on the effects of contaminated water, soil, and air, and how these pollutants impact human health. Encourage reduced use of raw and non-biodegradable materials (e.g., PVC plastics), and promote recycling and reuse over excessive consumption. Empower young people to take an active role in environmental protection, aligning with the values of Erasmus+ programs.
