In a world full of opportunities and choices, we are also seeing more division and conflict. Modern times bring progress and new possibilities, but they also bring many competing interests, beliefs, and values. These differences can create tensions and, if not managed well, can turn into serious conflicts or even violence. The United Nations has pointed out that the world today is facing levels of conflict and instability not seen since the end of World War II. For this reason, the goals of this project became even more important. Instead of seeing conflict as something negative that should always be avoided, the project was based on the idea that conflict can bring positive change if handled with care and understanding. Conflict is present in many areas of life — from politics to personal relationships. When managed well, it can help people understand each other better, work together, and come up with new ideas. However, too often people avoid conflict because it makes them uncomfortable. This prevents us from learning and growing through difficult conversations. The goal of this project was to change that mindset. It encouraged people to see conflict not as something bad, but as a normal part of life. When we face conflict in a healthy way, it can improve communication, strengthen relationships, and make communities more connected and resilient. The Youth Exchange “Conflict Breakers" aimed to bring together young people from different cultures to learn how to handle conflicts constructively. The project explored how to make conflict productive, how to accept that conflict is a part of life, and how to view it as an opportunity for change and growth. The main objectives of the project were: - Develop conflict resolution skills, teaching participants how to communicate, negotiate, and mediate. - Improve emotional intelligence, helping participants better understand and manage their own emotions and those of others in conflict situations. - Explore the root causes of conflict, analyzing the social, economic, and political factors that contribute to it. - Promote peaceful dialogue, teaching participants how to engage in open and respectful discussions on sensitive topics. - Increase intercultural understanding, helping participants value different cultures and perspectives. - Encourage civic engagement, motivating participants to contribute to conflict resolution in their local communities. - Enhance leadership skills, helping participants become leaders of positive change. - Build cross-border connections, facilitating networking and contact among young people from different backgrounds. - Create a safe learning environment, where participants could express themselves freely and share experiences. - Use digital platforms for collaboration, enabling participants to continue working together online. - Promote lifelong learning, encouraging participants to develop continuously throughout their lives. - Foster a sense of belonging to the European Union and its values, exploring the principles of democracy, human rights, and cultural diversity as the foundation of EU identity. With the support of partner organizations, we created a strong mobility program that we believed could make a difference, offering practical and relevant knowledge to European youth and promoting a more diverse, inclusive, and equal European Union.
