Objectives

The primary goal of Sustainable Spirits was to foster a deep understanding of sustainability among youth workers, empowering them to cultivate sustainable behaviors in their personal lives, communities, and interactions with the natural world. By equipping youth workers with practical tools, knowledge, and methodologies, the project aimed to create a ripple effect, inspiring young people to become proactive agents of change in their societies. Objectives of the Project: Promoting Holistic Sustainability – Encouraging youth workers to integrate sustainability not only in environmental practices but also in their relationships, behaviors, and lifestyle choices. Raising Environmental Awareness – Addressing critical environmental issues such as biodiversity loss, pollution, and climate change, with a particular focus on the impact on coastal regions. Introducing Permaculture Principles – Providing practical knowledge on permaculture as a sustainable solution for communities, combining natural resources, agriculture, and ecological design. Enhancing Personal Well-being and Mindfulness – Strengthening the connection between individual well-being and sustainability, using mindfulness techniques to foster pro-environmental behaviors. Encouraging Community Building – Equipping youth workers with methods to build strong, connected, and environmentally-conscious communities through collaborative and inclusive approaches. Developing Educational Resources – Creating a Permaculture Manual and 12 non-formal activities, each associated with a permaculture principle. These resources were designed to merge sustainability education with interactive learning, making the concepts accessible and engaging. Ensuring Free Access to Project Results – The Permaculture Manual and the 12 non-formal activities were freely distributed so that anyone interested can access, learn from, and utilize them in their communities, fostering a broader impact. Promoting Cross-Cultural Collaboration – Encouraging international cooperation to exchange best practices and build a unified approach to sustainability across different cultural contexts. Ensuring Practical Impact and Long-Term Change – Integrating sustainable practices into project logistics, promoting eco-conscious event planning, and developing actionable strategies for lasting environmental and social impact.
