Objectives

By implementing this project, we successfully achieved the fostering of environmental stewardship and equipping youth workers with tools to address sustainability challenges. The project transformed the relation youth workers had with the element of water. By receiving the teachings on how to relate with water in a new way, it also changed their understanding of climate actions into a holistic approach which emphasizes ecological restoration. A key accomplishment was the learning of the creation of Water Retention Landscapes (WRLs), effectively addressing desertification, erosion, and drought in the Iberian Peninsula. This practical initiative enhanced awareness of the ecological threats posed by unsustainable practices such as deforestation, monocultures, and mining. Additionally, youth workers were equipped with hands-on skills in sustainable water and land management, enabling them to integrate these practices into their daily work and to educate the young people. Some key objectives of the project were: 1.Facilitate Acquaintance with the element of Water: Deepen the relation between youth workers and water, encouraging respect, empathy, and responsibility while reframing climate action as holistic ecological restoration. 2.Combat Climate Change and Prevent Desertification: Develop innovative solutions like WRLs to mitigate the effects of climate change and unsustainable land management. 3.Empower Youth Workers with Practical Skills: Equip youth workers with sustainable land stewardship and resource management competencies, fostering resilience and resourcefulness. 4.Integrate Sustainability into Youth Work: Embed sustainability across environmental, political, and social dimensions in youth work practices. 5.Inspire Hope and Vision: Promote a regenerative future, where nature thrives and humans live harmoniously with the environment. The project successfully fostered environmental stewardship and equipped youth workers with tools to address sustainability challenges while emphasizing the importance of collaboration through networking. A dedicated Telegram group served as a central hub for knowledge-sharing, real-time collaboration, and peer support, connecting youth workers, local communities, and environmental advocates across regions. This platform enabled participants to share best practices, organize follow-up projects, and co-develop innovative solutions to climate and sustainability challenges. By facilitating cross-national connections and interactive engagement, the network strengthened the integration of regeneration into youth work, inspired collective action, and ensured the project’s long-term impact. Through this collaborative effort, the project not only achieved its objectives but also laid the groundwork for a resilient, interconnected community dedicated to ecological regeneration. These collaborative efforts inspired optimism and a shared vision for a thriving Iberian Peninsula. It responded to the collective need to strengthen networks, collaboratively develop non-formal education tools, and enhance the capacity to deliver impactful sustainability initiatives.
