The Green Shift project aimed to raise young people’s awareness of environmental protection, climate change and the energy transition, while encouraging more sustainable behaviours and lifestyles. It also explored the connection between environmental conditions, physical and mental health, well-being and quality of life. Through non-formal education, the project sought to develop young people’s green skills and improve their understanding of environmental policies. Participants were encouraged to identify challenges affecting their communities, consider their impact and propose practical solutions. The activities covered sustainable mobility, sustainable communities, tourism, health and local climate action. Another important objective was to strengthen youth participation in democratic and decision-making processes. The project gave young people opportunities to exchange experiences, develop proposals and engage directly with decision-makers. Particular attention was given to young people from rural and low-density areas and to those facing fewer opportunities. In line with European Youth Goal No. 10, “Sustainable Green Europe”, Green Shift aimed to help young people become better informed, more active in their communities and more involved in building a healthier, more inclusive and environmentally sustainable future.
