Objectives

The project pursued five concrete objectives: (1) Strengthen Regenerativa and Núria Social's capacity as catalysts for community regeneration in their respective bioregions; (2) Build greater cohesion and collaboration among local actors through regenerative principles; (3) Generate dynamic learning journeys enabling youth to shape regenerative vocational pathways; (4) Enhance the capacity of community initiatives and enterprises to regenerate local living economies through collaborative blended learning; (5) Use digital methods to compile and share competences supporting youth-led rural regeneration across Europe. These objectives were designed to benefit 12–16 young participants directly, while reaching 80+ organizations through bioregional networking.

Background

CARE emerged from an identified gap and youth-driven regenerative development initiatives in rural Southern Europe. In São Luís (Odemira, Portugal), one of Europe's lowest population-density areas (14.9 inhabitants/km²), and in La Garrotxa (Catalonia, Spain), young adults face limited vocational pathways, weak local economies, and rural exodus. Through participatory consultations and ongoing work with youth, community organizations, and municipalities, the partners identified the need for place-sourced capacity-building to enable regenerative livelihoods and rural youth driven initiatives. CARE aligned with the Erasmus+ priorities of promoting active citizenship and youth entrepreneurship (including social entrepreneurship), strengthening employability, and fostering inclusion and diversity, while directly addressing the European Green Deal and the European Skills Agenda for sustainable rural living.
