Objectives

The Engaged Citizenship Through Digital Storytelling project was designed to enhance digital literacy, online activism capabilities, and responsible digital citizenship among young people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. The project sought to address existing disparities in digital access and understanding across Europe by equipping participants with the necessary technical competencies and analytical skills to navigate the digital landscape effectively and ethically. Key Objectives 1. Promoting Digital Activism and Online Civic Engagement The project aimed to empower young individuals to utilize digital platforms for civic engagement, policy advocacy, and social activism. Through structured workshops, participants gained competencies in digital storytelling, content dissemination, and online campaigning to enhance their role in digital citizenship and human rights advocacy. 2. Strengthening Critical Media Literacy and Information Verification In response to the widespread issue of misinformation, the project sought to develop participants’ abilities to critically assess digital content. Training sessions covered fact-checking methodologies, bias detection, and misinformation countermeasures, equipping participants with the tools needed to navigate the digital sphere responsibly. 3. Enhancing Cybersecurity Awareness and Online Safety The program provided technical knowledge on data privacy, encryption, and cyber risk assessment to ensure participants could protect themselves from online threats. It also covered ethical considerations in digital communication, focusing on countering cyberbullying, online hate speech, and digital harassment. 4. Leveraging Digital Storytelling for Social Change By integrating digital tools with storytelling techniques, participants were trained in creating compelling narratives that could effectively advocate for their causes. The program introduced methodologies for content creation, including video production, podcasting, and interactive media campaigns. 5. Bridging the Digital Divide for Marginalized Communities A key focus was ensuring equitable access to digital resources for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including Roma youth, migrants, and those facing economic or social barriers. The project facilitated tailored digital education strategies, ensuring inclusivity and representation in the digital space. 6. Developing Scalable Online Activism Models The project provided participants with hands-on experience in designing and implementing online campaigns, offering practical applications of the acquired skills. These campaigns were structured to serve as blueprints for future digital engagement initiatives, ensuring the sustainability of the project’s impact.
