The project aimed to develop students’ green skills through practical and international activities. The main objective was for students to understand the impact of carbon emissions on climate change and to identify concrete solutions for reducing pollution through responsible daily choices. Another objective was to increase students’ knowledge of renewable energy. In Türkiye, students participated in activities on solar energy, wind energy, green travel and wind turbines. In Italy, the objective was to understand recycling and upcycling by transforming reusable materials into creative products. In Spain, the project aimed to help students understand the role of reforestation, carbon capture and soil protection through planting activities and biodiversity workshops. In Romania, the objective was to apply the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle through activities on composting, selective waste collection, recycled materials, sustainable gardening and biodiversity. An important objective was to include students with fewer opportunities or special educational needs in accessible, practical and motivating activities.
We applied because the partner schools identified a common need to transform environmental education from a mainly theoretical approach into a practical, visible process applicable to everyday life. Students needed to understand the connection between climate change, carbon emissions, energy consumption, waste management, sustainable mobility and responsible behaviour. Also, many students had little experience in practical activities such as upcycling, the use of renewable energy, composting or biodiversity protection. The project addressed these needs through concrete international activities: workshops on green energy and wind turbines in Türkiye, upcycling and creative reuse of materials in Italy, activities on reforestation, carbon capture and soil protection in Spain, and activities on reduce, reuse, recycle, composting and biodiversity in Romania. At the same time, the project provided inclusive contexts for students with fewer opportunities or special educational needs and developed key competences such as communication in English, teamwork, digital skills, creativity and civic responsibility.
