Objectives

We aimed to raise urgent awareness of how climate change, already disrupting ecosystems, health, housing and food/water security as highlighted by the WMO’s record‑hot 2023, affects all living beings and to show that individual daily choices matter for policy and market shifts; the project therefore sought to deepen youth and youth‑worker understanding of the links between consumption, production and climate, foster critical thinking and greener behaviour, and boost community engagement. All goals were achieved: a nature‑inspired non‑formal program of three modules (From Farm to Fork, Fashion Footprint, Green Commute) increased participants’ climate understanding by at least 50%, forest‑based mindfulness sessions raised youth involvement in climate topics by at least 15%, and outreach activities reached and increased awareness in at least 3,000 people per community, empowering young people to promote sustainable lifestyles and influence peers, families and policymakers.

Background

We applied because accelerating, unprecedented climate change was already causing severe social and economic harm across the EU,costing hundreds of billions, thousands of lives & recurring losses from floods&wildfires, and partner countries lacked the education & tools to connect everyday choices (food, clothing, transport) with those impacts. The project addressed that gap by building youth resilience &green skills through nature‑inspired non‑formal education: it developed curriculum modules aligned with the Farm‑to‑Fork and textiles transition policies, ran forest‑based mindfulness sessions to translate theory into practice and held eco‑friendly art workshops& green mobility advocacy. By training youth workers and partner organisations, integrating sustainable practices across activities & empowering informed young people to influence peers, families & policymakers, the initiative helped drive behavioural change to cut emissions, protect health and support the EU’s 2030 & 2050 climate goals
