Objectives

Through the project, we aimed to improve the understanding, treatment and inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. The main project objectives were: - to improve understanding of disability, challenges and needs of persons with disabilities, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and empathetic society, - to increase social awareness of disability and reduce stigma and discrimination, - to contribute to a more inclusive and equal society, - to develop modern non-formal educational content that is more integrative, visually engaging, and based on real-life examples and situations, - to raise awareness among professionals about the interconnectedness of disability and the need for a holistic, interdisciplinary understanding that goes beyond individual professional fields, - to involve persons with disabilities as active co-creators of knowledge and identification of their own needs, - to promote sustainable behaviour among persons with disabilities, who are often overlooked in environmental policies, - to establish international cooperation between partners and experts from social work, psychology and medicine, - to support the digital transformation of participating organisations.

Background

We identified a need for a systemic, interdisciplinary and digitally supported improvement in the understanding of disability, contributing to greater awareness and a more inclusive society. Persons with disabilities still face discrimination, stigma, social exclusion and a lack of adapted approaches, often due to insufficient understanding. Through the project, we addressed the need for: - greater inclusion of persons with disabilities in society, based on their active participation, - development of innovative education and awareness-raising approaches that better reach end users through a stronger emphasis on visual, especially video-based methods. Visual storytelling supports understanding of complex content, while personal narratives foster empathy and provide insight into lived experiences and needs of persons with disabilities, - connecting experts from different fields (social work, psychology, healthcare) to develop more holistic and effective approaches to disability, - promoting green practices among persons with disabilities, who are often overlooked in environmental policies, despite equal rights and potential to actively contribute to the sustainable transformation of society.
