In this programming year, we implemented: youth worker mobility in the form of the 4th conference 2024 "MODERN CHALLENGES OF WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE AT-RISK", 6-9 June 2024, in Radenci and the youth exchange Shaping Tomorrow with Yesterday's Light, 26 June - 1 July 2025 in Trenta. The total number of participants was 92 including leaders and trainers, of which 18 people with fewer opportunities. Partners are from 43 organizations working in the field of youth work. The conference 2024 "MODERN CHALLENGES OF WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE AT-RISK" took place from 6-9 June 2024. It was attended by 68 youth workers. Over the four days, we intensively exchanged experiences through presentations on the following topics: mental health of young people, the path to identity, innovative activities in the field of sports and arts in education and cooperation with parents - methods, approaches, techniques. In addition to the novelty of the “living library” (young people share their experiences one-on-one), the conference focused on current challenges and the search for new insights, guidelines, approaches, examples of good practices and ideas, as well as mutual exchange of opinions and experiences, networking and establishing new professional (international) partnerships and support. Networking (contact making) was an integral part of the program. We subtitled the conference "About young people with young people" due to the consideration that youth workers need to talk about young people together with them and not just among themselves. The youth exchange was attended by 24 people, 18 participants with group leaders. The youth exchange Shaping Tomorrow with Yesterday’s Light took place in Slovenia from 25.6. – 1.7.2025, in partnership Slovenia - SCMDJ (applicant), Italy - Associazione link (partner), Germany - Donja (partner). As part of the youth exchange, three partners from European Union countries have joined forces, all of whom work with young people with fewer opportunities. The overarching goal of our project is to enable young people to have new, positive, long-term life experiences through youth exchanges, as well as to empower employees and other workers in the field of work with (vulnerable) young people to work with this population and thus indirectly improve conditions for young people. We selected the conference participants, through Salto, from youth workers and organizations working with (vulnerable) young people or marginalized groups, with the aim of deepening the connections between European youth workers and associated partners from third countries at the 2023 conference. We were looking for partners who also implement our set goals and present practices of empowering young people while strengthening strengths and reducing deficits, and strengthening the competences of young people with emotional and behavioral problems through concepts of non-formal learning. In the design, we followed the principles of non-formal learning, where we opened spaces for the exchange of ideas, while strengthening European values in general, and more specifically with an emphasis on the goal of an inclusive society for all, which offers young people (and everyone else) support to achieve their goals regardless of their family and social environment. We presented Erasmus+ programs and encouraged networking between organizations for further partnerships. We provided participants with informal learning, exchange of good practices and an introduction to the values of the European Union through country presentations and various innovative and inclusive projects in the field of youth work. By organizing youth exchanges, we enable young people who are included in our programs and are adolescents with difficulties in social integration to gain positive experiences in contact with peers from other countries. Our adolescents have many shortcomings due to poor and uninspiring, sometimes even destructive and threatening family situations from which they come. Through youth exchange activities and other projects, we offer them the opportunity for informal learning, project work in smaller groups and acquisition in the field of social learning.
