The (h)ArtBeat project emerged as a collaborative effort of a group of young creators who regularly attend the Celje Youth Center and actively participate in music and creative workshops known as JAM SESSIONs. These young artists were driven by a desire to connect different artistic disciplines, such as creation of music, dance, costume design, and creative expression, which led to the development of the (h)ArtBeat concept. The very name of the project highlights well-being, musical/artistic collaboration, emotional expression, and intercultural cooperation. It was derived from the word heartbeat" symbolizing a focus on something essential and vital, much like mental and physical well-being is crucial for a healthy and balanced life. With a holistic approach, the (h)ArtBeat project aimed to connect art and music with personal and social well-being while promoting a sustainable future and respect for diversity. The planned objectives of the (h)ArtBeat project focused on several key areas: 1. Creation and artistic expression. The main goal was to enable young creators to connect through various artistic disciplines, such as music, dance, costume design, and creative expression. This led to the development of an interdisciplinary artistic project, where participants collaborated to create joint artistic pieces, including a final performance - song that was a result of their collective efforts. 2. Promotion of sustainability. Special attention was given to the use of recycled materials in costume creation, incorporating education on sustainable practices and environmental awareness. By working with limited resources, participants explored how creativity can contribute to sustainable development. 3. Inclusion and empowerment. The project provided a safe and encouraging environment where individuals could freely express their thoughts and emotions. The goal was to ensure the inclusion of all participants, regardless of their previous experiences or abilities, and to make everyone feel valued and respected. Particular emphasis was placed on including and supporting participants with fewer opportunities. 4. Intercultural cooperation. A significant focus of the exchange was on fostering intercultural understanding, as it brought together young people from diverse cultural backgrounds. This helped expand perspectives, develop new ideas, and encourage respect for diversity. 5. Development of key competencies and well-being. The project also emphasized the development of personal and social skills. Its objective was to help young people cope with stress, encourage emotional expression, and strengthen their mental and physical abilities, thereby enhancing their coping mechanisms for life’s challenges. 6. Education and active involvement of the local community. By integrating various artistic methods and approaches, as well as local artists/professionals, the exchange also aimed to raise awareness within the local community, fostering greater inclusivity and sensitivity to social, cultural, and environmental issues.
