The goals of our project were multifaceted, focusing on raising awareness among young people about the importance of rural areas, sustainable development, and intercultural cooperation. The first goal was to raise awareness about the significance of rural areas as fundamental sources of food, natural beauty, wood, and other resources, and to show the importance of supporting local farmers and buying locally produced goods. We aimed to encourage young people to recognize where their food comes from and how important it is to support local farming. Additionally, we wanted to highlight the importance of organic farming, sustainable agriculture, and proper management of natural resources. The focus was also on issues such as pollution, the excessive use of plastic, and global warming, with the aim of educating young people about their impact on the environment and the consequences, such as unusual weather events, like the floods in Slovenia. Through the project, we aimed to teach young people proper waste management, encourage responsible purchasing decisions, and raise awareness about strategies for environmental protection, such as saving water, energy, and reducing plastic use. Another important goal was to encourage young people to think of rural areas as potential places to live in the future, as too many young people leave rural areas in search of opportunities in cities. We wanted to motivate them to think about how they can contribute to the revitalization of rural areas and the creation of new opportunities. At the same time, we aimed to enhance the competencies of the participants through non-formal learning, preparing them for inclusion in society and helping them in their further education and career development.
