The "Health in the Green" project was aimed at young people and focused on raising awareness and educating them about mental health and the methods they can use to improve it. The main issue we aimed to address through the youth exchange was the lack of knowledge and awareness among young people regarding mental health, as well as the importance of connecting with nature. Together with our partner organizations, we conducted a brief analysis of the current situation among youth and found that many young people are either unfamiliar with or do not engage in activities that could help improve their mental well-being. With this project, our goal was primarily to raise awareness among young people about the importance of mental health and to show them that activities in nature can help them relax, calm down, and feel better. We also introduced them to new activities aimed at strengthening mental health. Throughout the project, we also encouraged sustainable practices among youth and raised awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. The nature-based activities incorporated elements of a sustainable lifestyle. We wanted to implement this project because, together with our partner organizations, we recognized a significant lack of awareness about mental health among young people and the fact that many of them are unaware of the importance of taking care of their mental well-being. Additionally, we discovered that many young people have lost touch with nature, which in turn negatively affects their well-being. By organizing activities in nature, we aimed to encourage young people to reconnect with the environment – and we succeeded in doing so.
