The Roma Youth project was intended to promote mobility in the SE region of the EU and, above all, to enable a group of young people with fewer opportunities to spend quality time. By implementing the project content, we want to enable Roma youth to gain new experiences and knowledge and to meet young Roma from different backgrounds and from other European countries on a joint exchange in Slovenia. The main goals of our project were mostly the implementation of activities for young participants: - holding a summer camp for young people with fewer opportunities or Roma youth from partner countries - workshops - herbalism and traditional Roma subsistence in nature - workshops - socialization of young people in discussion groups (youth, women, independence, growing up, education) - workshops - EU and I - workshops - chess - strengthening the partnership for long-term cooperation - development of competences of youth workers and leaders - leisure activities for mutual acquaintance and socialization The project addressed the target group, which belongs to the most discriminated groups of residents. In addition, Roma women and youth and children are among the repeatedly discriminated and threatened groups in both the Roma and majority communities. The social situation of the Roma community in the Dolenjska region is the worst in the country and needs much more active action to improve position. Difficult conditions in the local environment can be improved by connecting local stakeholders and broadening horizons young participants. The project promotes the mobility of young people and coincides with the goals of the Program, as it implements the activities and goals identified in the Program Guide: Europe needs more cohesive and more inclusive societies that enable a more active role of citizens in democratic life. Education, training, youth work and sport are crucial for promoting common European values, strengthening social inclusion, improving intercultural dialogue and promoting the improvement of gender relations, overcoming traditional roles and improving the situation of Roma women and children in both countries.
