Objectives

According to the testimony of our users, sexual education and sexual health are not taught or discussed within both formal and informal education. Within educational contexts, time is mostly dedicated exclusively to the topic of reproduction, which, according to curricula, does not include LGBTIQ+ content. With the youth exchange program letSEXplore, we wanted to respond to the need of our users for in-depth information on sexual health and sexuality in general. We wanted to address the topics of sexuality and sexual health in a comprehensive way, which we ensured by providing a safe space for sharing diverse perspectives and experiences, deepened with the help of experts in the fields of health, psychotherapy, and youth work. We empowered young people and youth workers to initiate dialogues about safe sex by equipping them with knowledge, approaches, tools, and methods for facilitating this type of dialogue through mentoring workshops of youth for youth. We created space for intercultural dialogue and exploration of the social conditioning of attitudes toward sexual content. As a final point, we opened our local environment to these topics of safe sex through high-quality methods of non-formal and informal learning.
