With this project, we aimed to enable young participants to get to know other countries and cultures first-hand, as well as to discover various common elements that connect citizens of different EU member states. In doing so, we wanted to enhance their overall cultural awareness, as the project’s content focused on the mythology of the participating countries. Learning about shared elements and mythological roots of different nations contributed to raising awareness of the interconnectedness of European cultures, shared values, and a sense of unity with other peoples of the EU. At the same time, participants also discovered aspects that are unique to each culture. In this way, we sought to strengthen their intercultural competences and their understanding and acceptance of diversity. During the youth exchanges, participants created an educational board game on the topic of mythology, through which players can learn about the topic in a fun and engaging way. By publishing and making the game available online, we aimed to extend the project’s impact to as many young people as possible across the European Union and beyond. The objectives of the project were to: - encourage participants to find connections between the traditions, myths, beliefs, and customs of different cultures, which often share similar roots, and to recognise universal elements across various European cultures, thus contributing to the strengthening of European identity; - enable participants to learn how to independently search for information and thereby improve their general knowledge while learning to filter search results according to their relevance and accuracy; - enhance the understanding of cultural heritage in connection with mythology and encourage young people to contribute to its preservation; - introduce participants to the concept of gamification in learning processes and support the development of a board game that teaches others about mythology in an entertaining way; - encourage participants to record short videos about their experience during the youth exchange in order to promote the project’s results and the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme; - develop participants’ skills in video recording and editing; - strengthen teamwork, as well as participants’ intercultural and language competences; - ensure equal opportunities for participation also for young people with fewer opportunities, especially those from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and young people with a migrant background.
