The project was designed as a response to the shared challenges faced by participating organizations in their work with young people in local communities. Experienced field-based youth workers, young aspiring youth workers, and active program users came together in a one-week seminar with the aim of developing innovative approaches to enhance existing programs. The two main goals of the project were to increase youth participation in youth programs and to contribute to the professional growth of the involved youth workers and their organizations. The project was built on collaboration, co-creation, and the adaptation of approaches based on the needs of young people. By involving entire teams and users, we aimed to achieve lasting impacts in the local environments of all three partner organizations. Expected results included concrete content proposals for upgrading existing programs and tools that could be directly applied in practice. Although the project was initially designed to support the development of the three participating organizations, it exceeded the local scope through the dissemination of results. The inclusion of three informal groups of youth workers from Medvode, Novo Mesto, and Nova Gorica strengthened the national impact. These groups developed their own pilot fieldwork programs for working with youth in natural environments, inspired by the seminar. In this way, the project directly contributed to the introduction of new working methods at the national level, responding to the identified needs of young people. On an international level, the project also had broader outreach. The partner organizations have long been active in European youth work networks and, through this project, enabled Slovenian informal groups to enter the international arena. The project also sparked further collaboration—during its implementation, we formed a new partnership called "Play 4 Youth" and successfully applied under the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships – Small-Scale Projects call. The competencies gained through the project contributed to the development of both individuals and organizations. Since entire teams participated in the activities, the impact was visible across organizations as a whole. Through the development of practical solutions, joint learning, and reflection, we created conditions for long-term change. We integrated results into our programs in real-time and shared them with similar organizations facing comparable challenges. In this way, the project supported professional renewal and innovation in the field of outdoor and field-based youth work. Special attention was given to the dissemination of results. The final seminar workshop focused on preparing a promotional strategy and creating content for online tools and social media. These posts targeted users of our programs, as well as the professional and general public within the youth, social welfare, and education sectors. We reached a wider audience by cooperating with local media—BKTV, among others, produced a video feature and published news on their channels. Each organization or group presented the project and its results within their local communities. Partner organizations from Hamburg and Graz shared the outcomes with colleagues and their professional networks. In Maribor, we presented the project to staff from two youth centers, the staff of the Pika day center for children and youth, and representatives of the Department of Culture and Youth of the Municipality of Maribor. The project demonstrated that collaboration, co-creation with youth, and international networking are key factors in developing innovative and inclusive youth work. With a clear focus on long-term impact, the transferability of results, and sustainability, we laid a solid foundation for continued cooperation and a joint contribution to a better future for young people in diverse local settings.
