Youth workers, despite the dynamic nature of their work, face daily challenges with enthusiasm and dedication. Their commitment is evident in administrative tasks, report writing, and project planning, often resulting in long hours spent sitting at a computer. The digital nature of their work requires frequent use of online platforms and growing engagement in virtual communication, which further contributes to physical inactivity. Youth workers engage with young people facing numerous life challenges and are deeply committed to supporting their personal, social, and educational growth. This demands strong interpersonal understanding, the ability to work effectively with others, and the capacity to remain calm in fast-paced and ever-changing environments. To perform their daily tasks effectively, youth workers require high levels of energy and concentration, which often leaves little time or motivation for physical activity. With this project, we aimed to present the benefits of dance-based activities to young people in a fun and dynamic way, as an alternative to traditional forms of exercise. In addition to encouraging cooperation and the joy of movement, dance contributes to stress reduction and improved mood. The project’s purpose was to highlight the many physical and psycho-social benefits of dance for youth workers, as research shows that the lack of physical activity negatively affects the physical and mental health of young people. Studies also show that regular physical activity improves concentration, memory, and problem-solving skills. Dance is a powerful tool for youth workers—not only does it promote motivation for movement, but it also fosters a healthy relationship with body image. It allows all participants to express themselves and participate without gender-based prejudice, encouraging equality and equity regardless of gender identity. The goal of our project was to create an innovative and dynamic environment where youth workers could discover the advantages of dance compared to more conventional forms of exercise. Through this initiative, we sought to offer a new perspective on physical activity and inspire youth workers to integrate dance as an effective tool in their work with young people. The main objectives of our project were: - To raise awareness about the importance of regular physical activity for physical and mental health, with a focus on the positive effects of dance on overall wellbeing and self-image. - To understand the impact of digital technologies on physical inactivity and to encourage youth workers to find a balanced relationship between digital communication and physical movement. - To promote the development of social skills such as teamwork, cooperation, communication, and a sense of belonging through group dance activities. - To enable the exchange of experiences and knowledge among youth workers through intercultural collaboration and to foster a positive social environment that values inclusivity and diversity. - To raise awareness of the importance of respecting diversity and combating discrimination, inequality, and cultural differences through dance activities that embrace cultural, gender, and ethnic diversity. - To strengthen interpersonal relationships and build lasting partnerships across national borders, contributing to greater connectedness and intercultural understanding among young people. - To increase the self-image and self-confidence of youth workers through free and creative self-expression and to promote a positive body image. - To encourage long-term physical activity among young people and raise awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. - To emphasize European values and the benefits of participating in Erasmus+ projects, which enhance intercultural understanding and cooperation among young people from different countries. - To improve English language skills through intercultural communication and participation in an international environment. With these goals, we aimed to contribute to the professional development of youth workers, improve the quality of youth work, and promote a healthy lifestyle and intercultural dialogue among young people in Europe.
