With this project, we aimed to enable the participation of young people with fewer opportunities in the DiscoverEU programme – young people we work with through the Youth Centre Vič and other partner organisations (such as Zavod Modri december) who, without encouragement and additional support, would most likely never take part in DiscoverEU on their own. Through our work with young people with autism (in cooperation with the Vič Student Dormitory, which accommodates students from ZGNL, and with Zavod Modri december), we have met many young people eager to experience opportunities similar to those of their neurotypical peers. However, most mobility programmes are not adapted to their specific needs. When given proper support, they not only enjoy these activities but also develop as many – or even more – competences as their peers. On the other hand, there are young people from economically disadvantaged families who simply cannot afford such a journey without additional inclusion support. In between, we also meet young people with learning or other difficulties, who often lack the confidence to apply independently and to plan and carry out such a journey on their own. Our goals were therefore to: - include young people who meet the age requirements this year in the DiscoverEU programme and support them in planning and carrying out their journeys; - inform younger participants who are not yet 18 about the programme and help them plan their future participation once they reach the required age.
