Objectives

The main objective of the project was to empower adult educators to deliver inclusive and high-quality sustainability education. More specifically, the project aimed to: • improve educators’ knowledge and practical skills in sustainability and environmental education, • provide inclusive and adaptable teaching methods for working with disadvantaged learners, • promote the use of digital and innovative tools (e.g. AI, VR, 3D printing), • develop and share good practices and training resources, • strengthen transnational cooperation and exchange of expertise, • and increase awareness of sustainability among adult learners and communities.

Background

The project was developed in response to the growing need for accessible and inclusive sustainability education for adults, particularly those from disadvantaged and rural backgrounds. Partner organisations identified that many adult educators lacked practical tools, methodologies, and confidence to effectively teach sustainability topics, especially when working with learners with fewer opportunities. At the same time, adult learners often had limited access to engaging and understandable environmental education, which reduced their ability to actively participate in sustainable practices. There was also a need to integrate digital tools and innovative methods into adult education to increase motivation and relevance. The project addressed these needs by focusing on: • strengthening educators’ competences, • promoting inclusive and accessible learning approaches, • introducing innovative tools such as AI and Virtual Reality, • and supporting cooperation between organisations working in sustainability and adult education.
