Objectives

The "MediaMatrix: Media Literacy and Active Citizenship" project aims to enhance media literacy and civic engagement among European youth. It focuses on responsible media consumption and creation, distinguishing facts from opinions, verifying sources, and identifying misinformation. The project also seeks to increase young individuals' participation in civic processes, enhancing their understanding of democratic values and mechanisms. This initiative addresses the challenges of low media literacy, insufficient civic engagement, and the impact of misinformation in the digital age. We've set an objective to increase the measured skills and behaviors (e.g. understanding of a democratic electoral process and the media's role in it, confidence in identifying fake news or misinformation, frequency of checking the credibility of the sources, etc.) by an average of 10-20 % among participants. Furthermore, by bringing together youth from various European countries and different backgrounds, the project encourages an appreciation of the diverse cultures and shared values that constitute the European community. This element cultivates an inclusive societal environment and helps to tear down prejudices.
