Objectives

Electoral participation and participation in decision-making processes through elections to various bodies, whether at local, regional, national or European level, is an area that young people do not pay much attention to. There are several reasons for this like low representativeness and real political engagement of young people, lack of knowledge about political participation and how it can help young people, low access to information and low levels of awareness about the importance of voting, about decision-making and about the role that the young generation can play in it, lack of knowledge about how we can use new online tools to empower, inform and educate young people about the importance of voting and participation in decision-making. Therefore, we wanted to disrupt and influence this state of affairs. All project partners have at some point in the past faced challenges in the area of participation and involvement of young Roma and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in elections. The objectives of the project were to raise the level of awareness of 42 young people from 6 countries (Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic, Serbia Macedonia and Turkey) on the importance of participation in decision-making, to increase the level of knowledge of 42 young people from 6 countries about online tools that can be used to organise information campaigns, to increase the capacity of 42 young people from 6 countries to organise local campaigns and initiatives (petitions/open letters) to promote the active participation and voting of young people in their countries, to develop dialogue between decision makers and young people in 6 local communities in 6 partner countries involved in this project.
