The FORMIDABLE project was designed as a direct response to the critical social and emotional challenges faced by young people in the post-pandemic era. Our primary aim was to empower young individuals by rebuilding their self-esteem and self-expression through the performing arts, while simultaneously bridging the gap between local traditions and a broader international understanding. The initiative was rooted in a specific need analysis conducted among our members, which revealed deep social divides and a sense of isolation affecting the target group. Young people expressed a strong desire for activities that would allow them to step out of their comfort zones, unleash their creativity, and reconnect with peers on a meaningful level. Therefore, by implementing this project, we aimed to create a safe and inspiring environment where art could serve as a tool for healing, critical thinking, and social reintegration. To achieve this vision, we established three specific, measurable objectives using the SMART methodology: Boosting Global Connections: We aimed to expand the participants' horizons by immersing them in an international environment conducive to genuine cross-cultural dialogue. Our specific target was to achieve a 70% increase in the participants' international interactions. We intended for this experience to cultivate mutual respect, reduce prejudice, and foster a robust sense of European identity. Encouraging Personal Growth: We focused on enhancing the participants' personal competencies and teamwork capabilities, setting a goal of an 80% improvement rate. Through collaborative workshops and group living, the objective was to develop essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and leadership, which are vital for their future professional and personal paths. Enhancing Self-Expression Through Arts: Leveraging theatre, music, and performance as non-formal educational tools, we intended for at least 75% of participants to experience increased confidence in their artistic abilities. We wanted to provide a creative outlet that would allow them to explore their identities and express their emotions constructively. Furthermore, FORMIDABLE was designed to leave a legacy beyond the immediate activity. A key objective was the creation of a tangible resource, the "FORMIDABLE - Tricks to Tackle Social Divide" toolkit. This was intended to consolidate our methodologies and ensure that the project's benefits could be replicated by other youth workers and organizations across Europe. Ultimately, the project was conceived as a transformative journey to equip young people with the resilience and confidence needed to navigate a complex, globalized world, ensuring they could contribute positively to a more cohesive and inclusive society.
