The Youth Workers in Action for Nature and Wellbeing project aimed to address critical challenges in youth work by equipping youth workers with innovative tools and methodologies to engage young people in eco-activism, nature connection, and well-being. The project’s objectives included: Building Capacities of Youth Workers: The project enhanced the competencies of youth workers in nature connection, well-being, and eco-activism. It provided them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to effectively engage and support young people in these areas. Disseminating Toolkit Know-How: The Youth in Action for Nature and Wellbeing Toolkit was shared with youth workers and other stakeholders at local and regional levels. Training sessions ensured participants could effectively implement the toolkit in diverse communities. Empowering Youth Workers: The project empowered youth workers to serve as facilitators and mentors, equipping them with tools to foster positive well-being, action competence, and environmental stewardship among young people. Promoting Holistic and Transformative Pedagogy: The project introduced youth workers to holistic and transformative pedagogy, emphasizing diverse learning theories, systems thinking models, and nature connection methods to promote eco-activism. Encouraging Independent and Group Use: Youth workers were trained to guide young people in using the toolkit independently or in small groups, with insights on adapting it for various settings and audiences. Facilitating Community Formation: The project enabled youth workers to foster engaged and supportive communities among young people, emphasizing collaboration, shared learning, and collective regenerative action. Instilling Resilience-Building Skills: Resilience-building tools and frameworks were integrated into youth work practices, helping youth workers support young people in facing social and ecological challenges. Encouraging Action-Oriented Approaches: The project inspired youth workers to adopt action-oriented approaches, guiding young people in implementing tangible eco-activism and promoting impactful social and environmental change. Cultivating Nature Connection: Youth workers were trained in nature connection methods to deepen young people’s engagement with the natural world and incorporate these practices into their work. Creating Transformative Learning Environments: The project supported youth workers in creating transformative learning environments that nurture personal and collective growth within organizations and communities. By implementing this project, we sought to empower youth workers with the tools and knowledge to create meaningful experiences for young people. The project fostered a sense of agency, connection with nature, and active participation in regenerative practices, leaving a lasting impact on youth work practices and community engagement.
