We implemented the Life for PRR (Protect, Reduce, Reuse) project to increase young people’s awareness of environmental challenges, strengthen their sustainable living skills, and transform this awareness into everyday behaviour. Our main intention was not only to teach the PRR approach theoretically, but to enable young people to experience it through practical activities and become capable of transferring it to their daily lives and local communities. Our objectives were: (1) to improve young people’s knowledge on recycling, waste management, water recycling/renewal processes and circular economy; (2) to develop “green skills” through hands-on workshops, learning-by-doing activities and field-based learning; (3) to support the adoption of environmentally responsible attitudes and behaviours (reducing single-use consumption, strengthening reuse habits, protecting nature); (4) to bring together young people from different countries in order to enhance intercultural learning, communication in a foreign language, teamwork and active citizenship; and (5) to ensure that the learning outcomes are disseminated so that participants can initiate small-scale sustainability actions after the project and expand the project’s impact locally and internationally. Overall, the project was designed and implemented as a youth exchange that strengthens environmental responsibility, encourages active participation, and promotes a culture of sustainable living through concrete local practices.
