Objectives

Our project aimed to improve the quality of life of young people experiencing neurodevelopmental problems by developing their perceptions and senses through sensory-motor activities. In this context, the primary objective was to enhance young people's daily living skills, social interactions, and self-esteem. Throughout the project, experience and knowledge sharing was supported between youth workers and professionals working with individuals with special needs. In line with specific objectives, participants were provided with the opportunity to increase their sensory awareness, develop their motor skills, support communication and teamwork skills, and learn new methods and techniques to enhance sensory-motor activities. The project also created an important platform for youth workers to apply these experiences in their own regions and encourage the dissemination of good practices. The project also supported the sharing of existing practices by partner organizations and their learning from each other. Turkey, in particular, carried out activities to support young people with autism, Down syndrome, and other neurodevelopmental disorders; Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Romania, Spain, Portugal, and France also contributed to the development of sensory-motor skills and the sharing of good practices. The primary objective of this project was to improve the quality of life of young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties and to develop the professional competencies of the youth workers who support them. Throughout the project, the focus was on both the individual developmental areas of the young people and the skills of the professionals working with them. The specific objectives identified were translated into concrete results through planned activities: 1. Daily sensory activities were implemented to increase the sensory awareness of the participants. 2. Exercises and activities were implemented to develop the motor skills of young people with special needs. 3. Communication and teamwork skills were supported through group work. 4. New methods and techniques that support sensory-motor development were transferred to the youth workers. In conclusion, the project not only contributed to the individual development of the young people but also had a lasting impact by strengthening the professional skills of the youth workers.
